Arachnophobia

I've never been one for phobias (except Clowns, seriously) so I don't particularly fear spiders. I do however like that they turn their prey into goo and suck out their insides as lifejuice. I also love this song by in my eyes and ears, the all around most talented band, The Who. This track is a rare one by the most  softspoken of the four, an excellent bassist, John Entwistle, who appropriately enough rocked this sartorial number on at least one occassion.

Now just as a side note, that Clowns link above actually directs you to a book called Clowns: A Panoramic History of Fools and Jesters, Medieval Mimes, Jongleurs and Minstrels, Pueblo Indian Delight Makers and Cheyenne Contraries, Harlequins and Pierrots, Theatrical Buffoons, etc. The reason I point this out is that the author of said book is one, John H. Towsen (technically a clown), father of my good friend and Mooniversally known comedian Nat Towsen. Take some time to check it out because it is practically considered the Clown's Bible (I'm also pretty sure that's a brand of Whiskey) and people have actually stopped Nat (also technically a clown ) while he and I were at a bar to talk to him about it. Now that is something to be afraid of... A bunch of rando clowns coming up and trying to talk to you at a bar... I wont be able to sleep tonight.

Also, it was Nat's birthday yesterday so I just want to give a shout out to him and his spectacular show The Moon, which has been so ridiculously amazing as of late and brimming with mind blowing comedy talent. It was just voted "The Best Reason to Walk Under a Bridge and Through an Unfinished Construction Site in Williamsburg, Brooklyn This Winter" right now this very second here on Every Day, Another Song. Just kidding... Just get off at Bedford, walk to N. 11th and take a right... The Window says Bar, you can't miss it. Check it out on Tuesdays at Royal Oak.

Sorry, I guess this was more about clowns.

Super Sunday

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's Super Bowl, it should be quite a battle. In preparation I was reading up and I found a link to Bodog.com, a gabling website with all the silly "Prop Bets" that you can make, like "What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning Coach," "How many times will they show Kim Karsashian," or "How many times will they fully state the phrase 'Hurricane Katrina.'". Then at the bottom of the site, I noticed a bunch of bets involving the Half Time act, The Who.

  • "How many times will Pete Townshend do his legendary windmill move?"
    Over/under 5 1/2
    Over -220 | Under +180
  • "Will a member of the Who smash a guitar on stage during the half time show?"
    Yes +160 | No -200
  • "If any member of the Who smashes their guitar what does the guitar hit first?"
    Floor 1/6 | Speaker 11/2 | Microphone 11/2 | Drummer 200/1 | Fan 200/1

Personally, I would put all my money on them showing Kim Kardashian more than 2 1/2 times. I bet they'll even show Half of her Two and a Half times...

Anyway it has been a destructive few days here at Every Day, Another Song, so continuing with the theme here are tomorrow's Halftime Show acts strutting/smashing their stuff with "My Generation."

Necessary Rambunctiousness

Even though the gender gap has been slightly equalized, it's only fair for a little bit of Boy Pride. Listening to this song, I can really empathize with the demasculinization of boys in society. Apparently if they like running around, or being at all rambunctious, they are labeled as Bad or during my adolescence, ADD Positive. As an attendee of NYC public schools I can safely say, most teachers would have been happier in a class full of Girls. Obviously I am not a leading mind on the subject, but I can say from experience, that being a rough and tumble kid never got anyone into any real trouble. Plus we all have to grow up someday, why does it matter so much what we grow up from?

Anyway, here are a few blokes who were troublemakers far into their adult lives, trashing hotel rooms, smashing guitars, and blowing up drum sets. Actually maybe boys (myself included) are too much trouble.

Song #39: The Who - I'm a Boy

P.S. Sorry about Rasta Monday. I felt like this song was a more appropriate first song back from Ladies Week, plus I kinda just wasn't feeling it. Tune in next week for a reggae post twice as good as usual.
