Today marks the anniversary of the death of someone who I believe to be one of the best composers of my generation, Elliott Smith. He has already been featured on EDAS before several times, but seven years ago today (just a few weeks into my first year of college) he supposedly took his own life by stabbing himself in the chest. Damn that's cold.
He is one of those sublime talents who was not long for this earth and its heavily echoed in his lyrics. Regardless of the specific subject matter, the depth and poignancy of his songs help stand out as one of the etherial musicians and songwriters of our time. His is, and will continue to be, sorely missed.
