I barely woke up 10 minutes before I had to be at work today, and then I fell asleep the second I got home until now.The worst part is I'm too tired to change this horrible Tyler Perry Movie that was blaring on my TV when I awoke. Either the jet lag has come roaring back, or given way to olde fashioned exhaustion.
Halfway through my trip, my 3 and a half year old camera died. 10 years ago I would have missed half a trip's worth of memories. Fortunately in today's digicam wielding society all 45 of my travel buddies were snapping non-stop (My brother took 1350 pictures over 10 days). The funny thing is every morning I wake up with 20 emails about being tagged in different photo albums.I guess it's just the modern measurement of knowing you had a good time.
My album is coming a little late, and I'll probably double it for Flickr purposes, but hold tight because here is a sneak peak of a truncated vacation album coming to a social networking site near you.
You may be aware I've just returned from Israel only a few days ago. I'm still doing my best to adjust back to my Every Day (pun intended) Life. The Jet Lag is subsiding, thanks to the fact I've just been in a 3 day Coma, but the cultural adjustment is taking longer than expected. Where's my breakfast Hummus??

The re-entry gets serious today when I have to get back to business. So today we start the return to normalcy with a great Rasta Mon-Day crossover. Again from one of my favorite movies, but definitely my favorite soundtrack, The Harder They Come, Desmond Dekker & The Aces with Israelites.
When I heard that animals like the Koala sleep 20 hours a day, I used to think that they slept 20 hours straight with a 4 hour day. Then when I went to Australia, I realized that Koalas just sleep basically all day, with a few minutes awake here and there equalling about 4 hours. Basically thats where I'm at right now. I have no idea how I'm going to get my work on tomorrow when I can't even go 5 minutes without slipping into a catatonic state.

Today we take a break from Biggie Sunday to give credit to another kind of Gangster, Blind-Bluesman turned Tuvan Throatsinging Champion Paul Pena (Kesher 22, You guys know what I'm talking about). He didn't slang rocks on the corner, but his story of survival despite complete blindness is about as thug life as you can get.
Paul Pena 1950-2005
Today we have song he wrote that barely saw the light of day, but was lucky enough to get picked up by Smoker/Joker/Midnight Toker, Steve Miller. This hit would give Paul Pena all the royalties he'd need to scrape by for the rest of his days.
The Jetlag back from the Land of the Bible is killing me. I have no idea what day/week/month/year it is. Last thing I remember I was on a rooftop bar in Tel Aviv.

Shout outs to my entire Israel Group who made such an amazing trek possible. I wish you all a smooth re-entry into every day life. You guys are the best.
It seems we've had some technical difficulties, Google apparently lost the second half of Color War while I walking through the Israeli desert. I have a every intention of hooking it back up in a few moments. Please just hang tight.
The most precious of the teams (in terms of metallic value at least), The Gold Team, is lead by the Grateful Dead. Deadheads rejoice because the long absent Haight/Ashbury minstrels finally make an appearance on EDAS and not a day too soon either.
Other Members:
Goldfinger, Gold Panda, Beck's Mellow Gold
Song #237: Grateful Dead - The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)
The White Team has an extremely Avante Garde set of captains. They used to be the house band at a New York Club called Max's Kansas City. Now that awesome sounding club is a deli. That my friend is Real Estate...
Other Members Include:
Barry White, Everlast (Whitey Ford Sings the Blues), The Beatles White Album Period, Former Nina Simone bassist Chris White and The White Stripes.
Song #236: The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
The captain of the Blue team is none other than John Coltrane.
Other Members include:
All of Blue Note Records, Blues Traveler, Paul Butterfield's Blues Band, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Kozmic Blues Band, Bobby Blue Bland, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Joe Turner & His Blues Kings
Continuing with our Color War, the next logical step is Red's more festive and well maintained counterpart, Pink.
The Pink team's captain is a mid 90s staple, gone wrong in Weezer. This band had a huge connection with myself and my peers during the single digit grades. In fact I used to go to Staten Island to watch my friend's band play Weezer cover songs in the basement of an Italian Restaurant. Then, the next thing you know, its the 2000's and Weezer is making Beverly Hills bullcrap for the masses. Lets rewind back to the Good Ol' days of 1996, when wearing glasses meant you would never get laid ever and a little album called Pinkerton came out. This song rocks out to the story of a guy who just might be barking up the wrong tree, if you know what I'm saying. I can't help but love the lyric in the middle "Everyone's a little queer, why can't she be a little straight?"
Other members include:
Pink (pop star), The Band (during their Big Pink Era), The Flaming Lips and Pink Floyd.
As a child, I always went to sleep away camp during the summer. One of my favorite parts of camp was Color War. For those of you whose parents didn't banish you to the Pocono's yearly, Color War is when the camp staff wakes up all the kids one day to inform them that most of their bunkmates are now their sworn enemies, based on laundry. The camp is then divided into teams, each one with it's own color, and these teams go on to battle each other in different activities and cheering contests to see which team and color is reigns supreme.
I'm pretty sure no team I was ever on actually Won color war, but it was a good time nonetheless and it helped me get good use out of all my Yellow clothes. So during my short excursion, during which I hope to be far far away from computers for as long as possible, I thought I would set up a Color War of my own, EDAS Style.
Beginning today, I will unveil each Color specific team, with it's Team Captain, and then maybe at the end, the team with the most positive comments wins.
The first color in the inaugural Every Day, Another Song Color war is... RED!
Seeing how it is Rasta Monday, the captain for the Red team is none other than the most famous reggae star of all time, Robert Nesta Marley.
Other members include:
Otis Redding, Redman, Redbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Red Red Meat and Red Fox.
Song #232: Bob Marley & The Wailers - Redder Than Red
Well, In a matter of hours i'm going to be flying half way across the world to Israel to learn about the culture there and also spread the word of Every Day, Another Song. Now I am hardly proficient in Hebrew, but the language of music is universal and I'm looking forward to an increase of visitors from the Middle East. Regardless of the fact that I know very little about contemporary Israeli Music, I am fairly certain that the contributions made by Biggie Smalls and our featured rapper, Nas, are appreciated even in the middle of the desert. I find it hard to believe that any people(s) would pass on this track.
