The Jetlag back from the Land of the Bible is killing me. I have no idea what day/week/month/year it is. Last thing I remember I was on a rooftop bar in Tel Aviv.

Shout outs to my entire Israel Group who made such an amazing trek possible. I wish you all a smooth re-entry into every day life. You guys are the best.
It seems we've had some technical difficulties, Google apparently lost the second half of Color War while I walking through the Israeli desert. I have a every intention of hooking it back up in a few moments. Please just hang tight.
The most precious of the teams (in terms of metallic value at least), The Gold Team, is lead by the Grateful Dead. Deadheads rejoice because the long absent Haight/Ashbury minstrels finally make an appearance on EDAS and not a day too soon either.
Other Members:
Goldfinger, Gold Panda, Beck's Mellow Gold
Song #237: Grateful Dead - The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)
The White Team has an extremely Avante Garde set of captains. They used to be the house band at a New York Club called Max's Kansas City. Now that awesome sounding club is a deli. That my friend is Real Estate...
Other Members Include:
Barry White, Everlast (Whitey Ford Sings the Blues), The Beatles White Album Period, Former Nina Simone bassist Chris White and The White Stripes.
Song #236: The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
The captain of the Blue team is none other than John Coltrane.
Other Members include:
All of Blue Note Records, Blues Traveler, Paul Butterfield's Blues Band, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Kozmic Blues Band, Bobby Blue Bland, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Joe Turner & His Blues Kings
Continuing with our Color War, the next logical step is Red's more festive and well maintained counterpart, Pink.
The Pink team's captain is a mid 90s staple, gone wrong in Weezer. This band had a huge connection with myself and my peers during the single digit grades. In fact I used to go to Staten Island to watch my friend's band play Weezer cover songs in the basement of an Italian Restaurant. Then, the next thing you know, its the 2000's and Weezer is making Beverly Hills bullcrap for the masses. Lets rewind back to the Good Ol' days of 1996, when wearing glasses meant you would never get laid ever and a little album called Pinkerton came out. This song rocks out to the story of a guy who just might be barking up the wrong tree, if you know what I'm saying. I can't help but love the lyric in the middle "Everyone's a little queer, why can't she be a little straight?"
Other members include:
Pink (pop star), The Band (during their Big Pink Era), The Flaming Lips and Pink Floyd.
As a child, I always went to sleep away camp during the summer. One of my favorite parts of camp was Color War. For those of you whose parents didn't banish you to the Pocono's yearly, Color War is when the camp staff wakes up all the kids one day to inform them that most of their bunkmates are now their sworn enemies, based on laundry. The camp is then divided into teams, each one with it's own color, and these teams go on to battle each other in different activities and cheering contests to see which team and color is reigns supreme.
I'm pretty sure no team I was ever on actually Won color war, but it was a good time nonetheless and it helped me get good use out of all my Yellow clothes. So during my short excursion, during which I hope to be far far away from computers for as long as possible, I thought I would set up a Color War of my own, EDAS Style.
Beginning today, I will unveil each Color specific team, with it's Team Captain, and then maybe at the end, the team with the most positive comments wins.
The first color in the inaugural Every Day, Another Song Color war is... RED!
Seeing how it is Rasta Monday, the captain for the Red team is none other than the most famous reggae star of all time, Robert Nesta Marley.
Other members include:
Otis Redding, Redman, Redbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Red Red Meat and Red Fox.
Song #232: Bob Marley & The Wailers - Redder Than Red
Well, In a matter of hours i'm going to be flying half way across the world to Israel to learn about the culture there and also spread the word of Every Day, Another Song. Now I am hardly proficient in Hebrew, but the language of music is universal and I'm looking forward to an increase of visitors from the Middle East. Regardless of the fact that I know very little about contemporary Israeli Music, I am fairly certain that the contributions made by Biggie Smalls and our featured rapper, Nas, are appreciated even in the middle of the desert. I find it hard to believe that any people(s) would pass on this track.
Headed downtown to my favorite/the dirtiest Watering Hole before I head off the the Middle East. The Patriot is well within peeing distance of my High School (trust me) and is the only bar I know in the whole city with a Country-Only Jukebox. Instead of your usual Lady Gaga, MGMT and ironic Hall and (Scr)Oates, a night at this bar features cameos from such Crooners as Elvis, Johnny Cash, David Allen Coe, Pasty Cline, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr. and a group called George Thorogood & The Destroyers.
Oh also when we went there for my birthday, I watched a wasted blond cutie fall down an entire flight of steps onto her mouth. Good (and extremely inexpensive) times. The Bartenders are far more interactive than most NY pourers, and this song almost always gets them dancing on the bar.
Song #230: George Thorogood & The Destroyers - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
I've been a little preoccupied with my previously mentioned fear of flying. Fortunately, a simple (and improved!) google image search for "Fear of Flying" returns this photo.
I thought I would just let you readers know that next week I will be traveling overseas to Israel. Don't worry because the blog will obviously be taken care of, in fact I have a good set of songs lined up since I will not be able to post while I'm running around one of the newest countries, with some of the oldest cities in the world. I'll also let you in on another little secret of mine... I have a mild (to random-stranger-arm-grabbingly insane) fear of flying. Unfortunately, the land based travel options to the Holy Land are pretty slim, so I will be sucking it up and spending the better part of a full day flying in a metallic bird (WITH MY BROTHER) inhaling little babies coughs. Luckily I'll have a 60 GB iPod stocked with sweet sweet tunes. That should give me some time to delve deeply into some of the mini-collections I've received over the past few months from some of my colleagues who write for awesome blogs such as The Rising Storm and TinyMixTapes. So don't be surprised if when I return I start playing much more psych-country-garage and current Brooklyn experimental-noiserock (respectively).
Back on the subject of air travel... Despite my fear, I try to find solace in as many things as I can while I'm thousands of feet above an ocean. A short list follows below:
The excitement of impending journey
The aforementioned quality music time
Airport Bars (Except in this case, because my flight is at 8:00 am)
Ever since I was a young child, in my most anxious and panicked state my coping mechanism has always been to immediately fall asleep (much like the fainting goats)
Praying and Repenting
Humming the song Jet to myself while thinking about Sir Paul McCartney's superb mullet from his Wings era.
P.S. You may notice further changes on the blog as below each post, there are easy access icons below each post to share the EDAS love via Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, email or even your own blog, so please spread the word.
